A LIFE-SAVING MACHINE IS AVAILABLE THANKS TO THE PODINI FOUNDATION

03.04.2020 – The Podini Foundation donates a life-saving ventilation equipment to the San Maurizio hospital in Bolzano, the only one in the entire province of Bolzano.

A great gesture of solidarity is that of the Podini Foundation, a non-profit association of the Podini family, to support the Healthcare Agency of South Tyrol in this extremely difficult moment.

“A state-of-the-art machinery for mechanical ventilation and monitoring of patients admitted to intensive care was purchased thanks to the intervention of the Podini Foundation which took over the investment, worth more than 100,000 euros”, says the President of the Foundation Giovanni Podini.

The equipment purchased can be used both on adult patients and on children and babies. This machine will allow the South Tyrolean Health Authority to enhance the intensive care of the Bolzano hospital. It is a vital support that thanks to the extracorporeal circulation allows, in conditions of severe respiratory insufficiency, to put the heart and lungs at rest, varying their ventilation and pump function.

Immediate the thankful response from the General Director of the Healthcare Agency of South Tyrol Florian Zerzer: “In such a demanding moment, which sees all our company structures fully committed to facing the crisis, the awareness of the support from civil society and local and national entrepreneurship allows us to feel appreciated and less alone in the battle. The Podini Foundation has shown, once again, to follow the principles for which it was founded, in the original spirit of Mrs. Isabella and Mr. Giancarlo. I therefore sincerely thank your Foundation for the generous support in purchasing the equipment of primary importance for the care of the people involved in the contingent health crisis ”

“We absolutely could not be indifferent to this great Covid-19 emergency; we wasted no time, we consulted the leaders of the Province and the Healthcare Company to understand the needs of the moment – explained Podini at the meeting for the symbolic delivery of the donated amount – our Foundation, always at the forefront for humanitarian aid, has contributed by all means and has made itself available to the community. The search was not easy as many manufacturers were giving us too long delivery times, but finally, after days of trying and thanks to the fruitful collaboration with the South Tyrolean Health Authority, everything went well “.

Giovanni Podini concluded by thanking all the medical and paramedical staff of all the hospitals in our province for their great commitment and great humanity in the fight against this terrible virus.
