THE LANDSLIDE IN 2012
Helping people does not exclusively mean going halfway around the world to do so! In our seemingly well-off and independent Region, in fact, not everyone is free from want. Each of us knows someone in need either directly or indirectly, and regrettably, even here there is much that can be done.
The Podini Foundation’s initial involvement in South Tyrol dates back to December 2012, when a landslide destroyed two homes in Val Badia. In that instance, our contribution helped families return to their homes.
COLLABORATION
We have established a fruitful relationship with the Cooperativa Sociale EOS (EOS Social Cooperative) whose aim is to facilitate the integration into the labor market of young people under the age of eighteen with social problems and psychological disorders.
Building on this spirit of cooperation, we have also partnered with the Bambini delle Fate (Children of the Fairies) and Non ti Scordar di Me (Do Not Forget Me) associations to help people with autism integrate into society, provide assistance to families caring for disabled children, and support children and young people from disadvantaged family backgrounds.
PODINI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Podini Foundation ONLUS Scholarship was recently launched with the aim of getting students from high schools in Alto Adige interested in volunteering.
Scholarships will be awarded for the best essays on the topic, “Non-profit organizations – how they are and how you would like them to be – your ideas on volunteer work and the mission of non-profit organizations”. The winners will have the opportunity to take part in voluntary work in Italy and abroad, which we believe will be very important for their growth and professional training.
SUPPORTS
We are also supporting the “Zeichen geben. Dare segni. Giving signals” project, launched by the Alzheimer Südtirol Alto Adige (ASAA) association, in which young people from provincial vocational schools work together with people suffering from dementia to create a work of art. The goal is to create something tangible through art that includes the input of young people, so as to deepen awareness of dementia − an important contemporary issue.
A number of related events, including a gala dinner and a theatrical show, will coincide with the launch of the project.
